Cafe Adeles

Café at Adele’s

Café at Adele’s has a rich history extending back 40 years in Carson City. Launched by Paul and Adele Abowd, parents of award-winning fourth-generation chef, Charlie Abowd, who has co-owned the restaurant with his wife Karen since 1998. The beautifully restored 1864 Comstock Mansart Victorian eatery sits on Carson City’s main thoroughfare.

Charlie Abowd has cooked at the legendary James Beard House in New York City, and the restaurant has earned the DiRoNA Award of Excellence, a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and a favorable rating from the International Restaurant and Hospitality Rating Bureau. The Reno Gazette-Journal gave Adele’s four and one-half out of five stars and noted that dining at Adele’s “is an event to be savored at leisure and treasured even longer in memory,” and Adele’s was a finalist in 2016 for Restaurateur of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association.

Because Charlie and Karen Abowd are fantastic people who give continuously and generously to the community, IPSM answers their every request for special project work with a resounding “Yes, of course we will!”

From graphic design and web management to special event planning, photography and videography, including the Concert Under the Stars fundraiser for Karen’s non-profit, The Greenhouse Project, a community garden project providing both locally sourced food, education and support for families in need.

In 2016, Carson City experienced a major flood event that stretched the city’s emergency responders to their limits. Charlie asked for our help in putting together a community meal to thank first responders, public works, city employees and their families. We gathered donations, created the graphics and managed the event.

In 2019, Adele’s suffered a catastrophic fire and the restaurant has closed for good. We cherish our time working with Charlie and Karen.
